PLEIADES HPC CLUSTER

The HEDP Group has recently installed a High Power Computing Cluster called Pleiades. The construction of the cluster is funded by the Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation under the Partnership in Basic Plasma Science.

Pleiades is housed at the San Diego Supercomputing Center located on the UC San Diego campus.

PLEIADES SPECIFICATIONS

Pleiades operates on CentOS cluster software system and uses AMD Opteron (64 bit) 8 core processors, each operating at 2.3 GHz. To meet the requirements of HPC applications Pleiades's computer engine has total 304 CPUs and 592 GB system RAM, which is divided over 19 nodes. Thus, each computing node comprises 16 CPUs and 32 GB of system memory. The Pleiades configuration is ideal to perform massively parallel computing operations.
