An aeronautical engineer by training, Professor Lasheras' research interests include turbulent flows, two-phase flows, and bio-medical fluid mechanics, and biomechanics. He conducts laboratory and mathematical modeling of flows relevant to a wide range of applications spanning from naval hydrodynamics to propulsion, vascular hemodynamics, cell mechanics, and cell migration. His biomechanics work is currently centered on three research projects: 1) Cell migration, 2) Vascular Mechanics, interaction between the mechanical stimuli and the pathophysiology of vessel remodeling responsible for the enlargement of cerebrovascular and abdominal aortic aneurysms, and 3). Endothelial cell remodeling.
