How to get to my office

My office is on the top floor (5th floor room 580) of the Engineering Building Unit 2 (EBU2) on the UC San Diego campus in La Jolla, 92103.

Public Transportation

Public transportation is the best option to get to and around the UC San Diego campus if you are coming from the north along the Amtrak corridor (Unfortunately there is no good public transporation option from the SAN airport). From outside the city (Solana Beach or further north) you would to the following:

Amtrak to Solana Beach. From there you have two options:
- Take the $2.25 101 bus southbound towards UCSD, VA) OR
- Coaster Train to Sorrento Valley. From the station you will see a free blue & white UCSD bus waiting a short walk from the coaster stop. Take that bus to campus.
get off at 'Gilman & Myers Drive' (talk to bus driver for directions).

Most San Diego buses ($2.25 each way), the UCSD Coaster shuttle and free UCSD buses from outside the campus drop you off at Gilman & Myers from where it is a short 0.4 mile walk to EBU2.
Once you are at Gilman \& Myers or most other places on the UCSD campus you could also take the campus loop shuttle which runs every 5 minutes during the school year and every 20 minutes during the summer. Look for the 'L' signs on the bus stop and the bus. The loop shuttle drops you off directly north of EBU2.

Driving

The closest street location to EBU2 is here. If you are dropped off, tell the driver / Taxi to go to this location. From there the building to your right ahead (northwest) is EBU2.

GPS: There is not guarantee that your GPS will recognize this address but the closest point is Voigt Dr & Matthews Lane, La Jolla, CA 92093. If that does not work, use 9500 Gilman Dr., La Jolla, CA 92093.

Parking: There is short-term parking (free 20 minute loading zone and 2 hour max coins meter; the latter is often occupied during working hours) in the parking lot P508 adjacent to the EBU2 building. Enter the parking lot by turning left at the T located here and take an immediate right into the parking lot. Parking enforcement is severe at UCSD so obey the rules.
A better strategy to find parking is in P701 east of I5 between I5 and a baseball field, south of Voigt Drive. From there it is a 0.4 mile straight walk to EBU2. Purchase a 1 hr to 1 day parking permit at the machine.
