I thought you would be interested in a very special "Report on the Oceans" being produced and webcast this Thursday, September 30th on the "Wild Side News". This news program is hosted by Sidney Wildsmith and is broadcast each Thursday around the world on the Internet. The program will feature Dr. Charles Kennel, SIO Director, who will provide a succinct "State of the Oceans" discussion, and Kevin Hardy, SIO Senior Engineer, who will discuss SIO's role in the international efforts to study and determine the best course for our oceans. In addition Professor Phillip Hastings, Curator of our Marine Vertebrates Collection (Fish Collection) and Erica Goetze, an advanced SIO graduate student, will discuss the Scripps Oceanographic Collections and their value for research, teaching and society.
